Large Festivals are becoming Death Fests

We are hearing about more and more cases of people being being killed after taking drugs at Music Festivals and similar types of festivals.

We have heard about this at Glastonbury and recently, in Stratford, London and in Tunbridge Wells. There are numerous other cases round the country.

Fortunately there are alcohol and drug free festivals about, but still, people who go to music festivals for fun with their friends, are now coming out in coffins, on the day, or a few days afterwards. Their friends get interviewed by the police and ‘disappear’.

Too many people cannot say no to drugs and drink heavily, and I expect the incidents will continue to rise.

Roman Catholic Christenings without the Child’s Consent, my thoughts

I have been invited to a relative’s Roman Catholic Christening as the ‘aunt’ in Kent.

The father is an athiest but the mother is a Roman Catholic. The baby is being forced to be brought up in the Roman Catholic faith. The athiest father is reluctant for the child to be brought up as a Christian, but in order ‘to keep the peace’ with his wife and her traditional Roman Catholic parents, and Church pressure, he feels he has to. How many athiests get to lose this deal?

As a close relative of the child, we ourselves can make a stand against forced religion (and also circumcision and forced genital mutilation), while we are at it).

For example, we can show our presence, as ‘a gap’, by not attending the Christening, though this may or may not risk cultural problems in the family. There will, of course, be photos of the day, and the child may ask questions years later, as to why the aunt is missing, and that is a ‘good thing’. My other relatives will only be there because ‘it is their duty’. They are not Roman Catholic but Church of England, and generally only turn up for events like weddings and funerals (mostly funerals), a bit like Prince William.

Many of us were brought up in forced religion. I was literally forced to go to church and faith schools against my will and sometimes being spiritually abused for my differing beliefs, feel that children should choose their own religion, and that’s if they want one or not. I am a ‘Survivor’ of a family who rammed Christianity down my neck, well, my mother mostly. We even had services in my home. My father was an athiest.

The child is being made to support a religion, just because one or two parents support it, and this is wrong. In some families, people have different religions anyway, so how is it that sometimes the whole household has to ‘support’ one religion at least, for sixteen years?

Furthermore, finding Roman Catholic godparents is also a challenge these days too. And few of them, if found, are nothing more than present and W H Smith voucher givers and often don’t even see the child anyway. Priests don’t seem to be bothered that the child has no consent, this is also wrong. They want money for their church and robes. And the Church the child will be christened, has experienced sexual abuse and one of the Priests is in jail!

I for one will be turning down the invitation, but ‘graciously’ and I will state that I believe that children should decide for themselves, which is perfectly reasonable. I am tempted to even go to the Catholic Church and voice my objection, and have it written in the notes. As an Aunt, I will make it clear that I fought for my nephew’s rights to choose.

UPDATE: I had a chat with a retail assistant in London the other day, and he said he was a lapsed Catholic. He said he was forced to attend Church so he wuld go to Catholic schools. His father was also athiest and his mother, was Roman Catholic. He knew very young that he was not Catholic.

Anger over Sex Offender Chan, Cheuk-Kiu, 25, from Hong Kong, China, still studying at Newcastle University

A male serial child groomer, currently living in Gatehead in the North of England, was caught by paedophile hunters, Dark Justice and Guardians of the North, on several occasions, trying to meet vulnerable young boys, has been allowed, it is allegedly, to stay on at Newcastle University in the UK, despite being on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and undergoing a Sex Offenders’ Programme.

And if he is meeting at them in the University halls, this opens other safety issues and then of course, he would be using university computers.

People here are furious that he has also not been deported back to Hong Kong or even jailed.

Dark Justice said on The UK and Ireland Database for Crimes against Children, “We are worried he will go somewhere else and do it again. A community order for a period of three years is nothing, it’s not really punishment.”

The Guardians of the North spokesman said “It’s a damn disgrace. You can understand getting a community order for one offence but for two it’s taking liberties.

“The judges at Newcastle Crown Court are playing russian roulette with our children. It’s not on at all, it’s a disappointing result.

“The fact he’s still able to sit in university and continue with his studies, it’s unbelievable.

Newcastle University, according to its Mission Statement, is committed to
‘social responsibility, transparency and excellence’.

Beaulieu has asked Newcastle University to comment but there has been no reply. Will keep you updated. I haven’t seen a statement from them either.

This story here does make you wonder how many current sex offenders are studying at top universities and colleges unbeknown to other students, and this article has been sent to BBC Panorama and Channel 4 Dispatches to see if they can make further investigations on this issue. After all, famillies visit student halls to visit their relatives or attend functions. It seems to be that Universities nowadays are not fussy now who they get, as long as they have good results and the money to fund the course.

(The link to the story is here: https://www.facebook.com/TheUKdatabase/ and search for Cheuk-kiu Chan. ) and it is also in the Sun https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4246847/dark-justice-paedophile-hunters-student-cheuk-kiu-chan-caught-underage-boys/

Mind Charity Shop Bermondsey to Re-Open 10th August

Mind Charity responded to my recent article that the Mind Charity shop in Bermondsey, being ‘closed’. They told me that the notice about the closure could have been hidden under the shutters and that they will replace it with a new one as soon as possible.

Gareth from Mind said that the shop had to be completely closed as they had to put in new floorboards but the shop will Re-open on 10th August.

Thank you to Mind for getting back.

Grace & Green are looking for journalists who will work for free – What a scramble!

Grace & Green, a lifestyle brand, has been looking for desperate bloggers to work 6-8 a week, completely unpaid, for their launch in the Autumn. Their values are ‘ethics, honesty, transparency and sustainability’. The organisation is run by Frances Lucraft.

They claim their internship is ‘initially unpaid’ but ‘could’ evolve into a paid position to the ‘right candidate’, so, there is no guarantee

    of any future work.

The position has a raft of serious responsibilities, and the unfortunate blogger who works for free, must have a ‘can-do’ attitude.

All bloggers will get is ‘a profile and recognition on our website and social media platforms, the opportunity to be part of a passionate team (some unpaid I expect) and invaluable insight into the life of an exciting start up, valuable transferable skills, articles and blog content to use as writing samples for a career in journalism, media or communications’ and a good, strong, reference’. The job ad does not state whether any expenses will be paid.

I think that everyone who works for a profitable organisations should be paid, and that includes internships.

The Government states that people should receive the National Minimum Wage in the UK if you are performing the role of a worker. The vast majority of interns are classed as workers. You should also consider the work should be for your benefit, not the employer’s. If you are part of a commercial operation of a business, you’re likely to be entitled to payment, though there are exceptions.

“Awful environment”- Half of South East Coast Ambulance staff (SECamb) report toxic workplace bullying & harassment

The BBC said in a university report that there has been a culture of workplace abuse and bullying within the state-run NHS Ambulance service in England.

'In his report, Prof Duncan Lewis from the University of Plymouth said: "Common decency is a right, not a privilege, and harassment or bullying, including sexual harassment must end now."

He pinpointed that their headquarters in Coxheath in Kent and Tangmere in West Sussex as areas "plagued by poor practices/behaviours".

On their website, in the Careers section, SECamb states they are "Operating in the area which was the birth place of the UK paramedic, you could soon be working for one of the most innovative and forward thinking ambulance trusts in the country."

And, in their statement about their 'values', they claim they 'show respect' as you can see here: http://www.secamb.nhs.uk/about_us/our_values.aspx. Basic standards appear to be ignored by poor management and ineffective HR.

It is totally unacceptable that staff are being bullied in the Ambulance Service. We all need respect at work. It is reflects badly on the organisation and its management, and of course morale. The staff do some great work, and I have had to use them on occasions, but there should not be a culture of workplace bullying and harassment, and employees must not be silenced.

One ambulance worker said on a BBC forum said it was so bad that he had to leave and the culture of bullying within the organisation 'went on for years'. Another person wrote on Glassdoor, a review site for employees and jobseekers, said it was an 'Awful Environment' and another said 'It was OK unless you have an opinion'.

  • Gutted: Mind Charity shop in Bermondsey ‘Closed down’

The Mind Charity shop in Bermondsey, Southwark, appears to have suddenly ‘closed down’. All the staff, volunteers, clothes and nik naks have gone. It is now a ‘shell’.

There is no sign outside the shop apologising to loyal customers, and no notice of any refurbishment. Customers were not warned this would happen, and staff, if they knew, did not let on. Maybe it was news to them too. If it has moved elsewhere, there is no notice. It’s all a bit of a mystery. The Charity Communications team has not provided any response.

The shop has recently had new management, after the previous management had gone. New volunteers have been drafted at the shop over the past few weeks.

There were minor changes within the shop since then and there had been positive ideas for improvement and change. So it all has come a bit of a terrible shock to locals who enjoyed having a chat with the staff and buying some clothes for themselves, gifts, collectables and toys for their children. It is going to be difficult to find a replacement as there are limited places in the town selling inexpensive clothes and quality cards. The Sue Ryder Shop nearby is also closed due to a power problem.

Throughout Mind there has been a financial overhaul, with harsh audits from ‘the top’ and drastic cuts that have seen major changes within the charity.

UPDATE: Good news, it is to re-open on 10th August 2017 https://beaulieusnewsblog.wordpress.com/2017/08/08/mind-charity-shop-bermondsey-to-re-open-10th-august/

    Preventing Moped Crime, my steps

Southwark is one of the worst areas for feral young males on mopeds stealing phones, in particular round Surrey Quays in Rotherhithe. Police have been putting up signs round Southwark warning people of moped thefts, and by bus stops too.

I think we should all be aware of them and avoid walking down the pavement with a mobile and ideally, walk along the pavement in the other direction, the opposite of where they are going. Of course, in pedestrianised areas, just be vigilant. These men are particularly looking for those who are easy targets, and not paying any attention.

I don’t have an expensive iPhone and my phone is also registered on immobilise.com and is password-protected after a few seconds.

I have only noticed signs going up in the last a couple of years, so may be this is a new phenomenen learned from abroad.
